When is one "ready for fasting"?

Answer

Edit: none of what I said was helpful. I assumed you were a complete beginner and did not read you fasting history.

Edit 2: I’d say eat a big meal of whatever you want to mark the start of your fasting.

A very common problem is that we tend to think of this as riding a bicycle, when it is much more close to running.

If you spend a long time without running, you won’t come back by attempting a 10k. You also will need to keep an eye on injuries and discomforts, and will probably need to rest to let it heal (rather than push through because of your limit used to be).

So I would recommend getting back to it as if it were your first time. Do a few 16hs, increase it to OMAD, then try 36, and so on.

Be kind to yourself, fastig is not easy. I’d pick a day in which you don’t have much to do, usually a Sunday or a sunday-like day, prepare your house with water and maybe some fruit, remember these are good things to you, and just do whatever pleases you that day- meditate, reading, just laying in bed scrolling through reddit. Don’t try to be productive, don’t try to be a good friend, worker, son that day. Just take care of yourself and take it easy and reconnect with how good it feels to get a hang of your cravings.

Be kind to yourself OP.
