When it is time to eat, I scarf!

When it is time to eat, I eat like a pig at a trough! Is eating so fast just me?? Maybe I’m too hungry because I shovel my meal in like 10 min. Just curious! No harm no foul just a little embarrassing.

Answer

IF or not, I eat so much faster than the average human. It literally takes me less than 5 mins to finish any meal even if it’s huge. I don’t try to eat fast. It doesn’t matter if I’m starving or not hungry at all, it’s just my default eating pace and I have no reason to change it. No shame in eating at lightening speed.

I’d say it’s only a problem if you reach for more food after eating the portion that was supposed to fill you. Eating so fast, the brain doesn’t register that you’re full for a bit, so it’s easy to overeat. I personally plan and portion everything so I know that by the end of it there’s no getting more.

If it’s something you want to change. One thing that really helped me to slow down my eating, not having a drink most of time. That liquid just helps us to learn to eat, chew, and swallow faster than if we needed to properly mash the food up enough with just chewing.

I’ve also seen the claim that not having a drink with or shortly after a meal supposedly helps with satiety in some ways by not emptying out the stomach as quickly.

Answer

This is normal for me also. I eat ridiculously fast without trying, I’m like a professional. I have been doing it my whole life so it checks out lol. The only thing that sucks is I may not chew my food all the way which means it possibly could impact digestion of the food, and also you don’t realize you are full until after you have overeaten because of how fast. But I’m like you, I can crush a meal in a couple minutes.

Answer

Ok I used to be a slow eater before IF I guess. I’m “normal” now hahah. No at work I eat my one meal. Weird but helps not being ABLE to reach for more. My planned meal at work helps with portions!!! Thanks

Answer

Take a bite. Put your fork down. Chew your food. Swallow it.
Then pick up your fork and take another bite.
Every single bite of food like that.

It’s dead and immobile - it cannot get away from you.

I used to WOLF food down incredibly quickly.
Now I am usually the last person to finish my meal.
I like it better that way.
