Changing your diet in certain cultures is difficult, especially if you’re young, and double especially if you eat with family. I would try to load up on veggies and protein as much as possible and try to cut back on bread and limit sauces, if possible. And whenever you’re able to, widen your fasting window and maybe even skip a day or two.
IME intermittent fasting alone won’t lead to weight loss. Probably for seriously obese people it could. Combined with exercise and/or keto I have gotten good weight loss results. And with longer several-day fasts.
It’s difficult to know without an idea of your existing size, age etc and what you are cutting out. For example if you were previously drinking sodas or fruit juice etc cutting these out will already help. In my experience you can get fairly slow weight loss on 8/16 but it would certainly be preferable to cut out the carbs for lunch. To get better results, you should be thinking of acclimatizing your body, then moving to cut lunch as well as breakfast. Whether this makes sense or not depends on your current situation. If you are just modestly overweight and just need to reverse that it should be fine, if you are very overweight, you probably need to see it as a stepping stone to further restrictions.
