Did a short 36 hour fast before New Year’s Day. I fast for spiritual quotes. I religious reasons. Jesus said to do it. I tried it. It made sense. I guess the it made sense. Part needs a little unpacking. I’ve learned that my stomach has a mind of its own and my desire to consume takes up a lot of time and energy. While fasting I free up a lot of time and energy, I’ve heard that brain cells that fire together why are together, meaning that as we act habitually our brain, cells, fire and predictable ways, and that creates strong holes in our thoughts, words and deeds, habits if you will. As we break those habitual thoughts, words, and deeds, those brain cells that afire together and wire together, come apart, releasing energy for other things new ways of thinking, new ways of expressing, new ways of acting, and being. If we’re talking, non-spiritual, we’re talking about energy, we’re talking about consciousness, fasting helps find a way to be more connected to the spiritual, energetics, conscious part of ourselves that is not of the world, of the flesh, but knows itself as a spiritual being.

I’m a fitness trainer by profession. I’m trying to figure out how to keep fasting as a Lifestyle choice, while at the same time building and maintaining the muscle mass it so important for older adults to build.

I’ve got a client who decided on her own to do a modified fast: 500-600 cal/day.

I want to suggest she keep training to maintain muscle mass.

She is obese and is fasting for weight loss.

I wonder if she ate 600 calories of meat 150 grams of protein would her body just use the fat to build muscle?

Start: January 2, 2023End: February 1st, 2023 (At least 30 days, possibly longer depending on how I’m physically feeling. Going to try to power through the mental aspect of it).

I’m fasting for weight loss.SW: 332.5lbsCW: 325.8lbs.-6.7lbs (I ate a lot over the holidays and was very bloated when I started).

It’s going great so far! Last night around dinner time was a bit hard, and I was a bit hungry. But I woke up today feeling energized, which is unusual for me.

First time poster in this sub. Did a 48 hour last week and started another one on Sunday, 40 hours in on this one. I may push it to 72 hours this week. Feeling good, did have a cup of Knorr bouillon when I woke up this morning so not sure if that breaks the fast? seems like mixed thoughts here on that. Going to push my body in 2023, the people here are amazing, it is blowing my mind the extended fasts you all do. Excited to go further and happy to be here!
