Hi folks, just coming here for a little moral support ☺️I’m on day 1 of a 5 day fast! Started late last night. Only my second extended fast ever (first one was a couple of years ago) and I’m feeling a little anxious about it.

I’ve finally gotten to a place where I appreciate my body for all it does for me, though I miss the mobility my slightly lighter body gave me and I’m hoping to get that back with some fasted weight loss. It’s been a real journey. I gradually gained 10 kg/22 lbs over the years, then lost it when I was sick with covid (no sense of taste/smell for weeks helped with being disinterested in food!). Then I gained it all back AND an extra 10kg which I’ve really struggled to shift. I’m 34F, 5’ 4” currently weighing 80 kg/176 Ibs.

I’m also hoping for some of the mental clarity that comes with fasting and hoping to step away from relying on food as a crutch for emotional issues. I know so much of this is psychological but it doesn’t always make it easy.

I also appreciate this will be a long journey. I’ve learned about set points through Dr Jason Fung’s work so am going to focus a lot on maintenance too between fasting periods. Any tips on that (including healthy, whole food recipes) is much appreciated. Wish me luck ☺️🍀
