Used to fast weekly for 72 hours (Last meal Friday night, next meal Monday Night), on an OMAD keto diet. It really worked for me for a moderate amount of time (9+ months) and I kept my weight steady, and enjoyed a lot of the aspects of fasting - especially the mental clarity it gave me, as well as (hopefully) the health benefits.
Then, in March 2020 everything went to shit (for a lot of people) and I fell off of fasting when I lost my job. I got another one pretty quickly, but had to move around the state, moving from rental to rental, where previously I’d been comfortable in my own home.
It’s taken this long, but after putting on almost 40kg over the past 2 years, as well as spending a shameful amount on Uber Eats et al, I’ve finally gotten things back on track enough to start fasting and exercising again.
I’ve got 3 weeks off work, I’ve cleaned all the crap out of my unit, I’ve bought a fairly decent treadmill, and stocked the cupboard with vitamin supplements, fibre caps and potassium salts.
I kicked off a 10 day water fast last night, and so far only briefly hit an early wall, which I climbed over thanks to this sub.
I’m not weighing myself this time around - I’m doing this for the health benefits, not to chase a number, but here’s to seeing my belly disappear, and so I can see my feet again when I stand up straight!

Day 2
Weight: 411.2 lbs (assumed 450 lbs)….Target: 250 lbs
Feeling much hungrier but found a sip of snake juice destroys the appetite. Absolutely vile drink so will start licking the salts to get it over with. Overall I think 3 day fasts or longer are the way for me to go. Plan on having little rewards as I reach short term goals. Next goal at 400 since round numbers are super mental. Also finding fasting to be much more challenging mentally than physically as I need to ride the waves.
