Hey all! This is my first >24h fast and my first post here, but I’ve been lurking for a while. I’m 32 hours in (my goal was only 30.)

My weight has been creeping up for the past couple years and my BMI is nearing that 25.0 number (clinically overweight.) Counting calories was difficult for me; I used to be one of those people who could just eat whatever I wanted and never gain weight.

Well Thursday at 2:00 AM I caught myself snacking on a huge chunk of white bread smothered in butter and thought “yeah, there’s no way I can let this continue.” I’m taking control of my diet and appetite.

I felt pretty hungry for most of the first day, but it wasn’t unbearable at all. I noticed my resting heart rate was a few beats lower than normal (upper 40s vs lower 50s… I know it’s low, I used to be really athletic) and I actually felt calmer and less stressed than normal. I got a great night’s sleep for the first time in a while. I woke up 28 hours into my 30-hour fast feeling absolutely fantastic and not hungry at all, I decided to go a few more.

I did notice that I was a little dehydrated this morning despite drinking what I thought was plenty of water yesterday. I’ll have to watch that moving forward.

I’ll probably break the fast around 34 hour mark because I don’t want to do too much too soon. I’m hoping to make ADF a regular thing going forward.
