Hi y’all, first time contributor here. I decided I would start following up eating binges from trips, holidays, etc with fasting. I tried a 20 hour fast today. Horrific experience. I’ve done 16/8 before with ease, but 20 is a new high. By the time I was late afternoon, I felt like I had the flu. I still feel like I’m having an out of body experience. ALl my muscles feels heavy and dull. Other weird symptoms include hiccuping. I have no idea why it kicked my ass so much .Questions - any similar experiences? To be expected? Also, ideas for recovery foods?

Looking at everyone else’s post, this must sound like amateur hour, but I want to get to the point where I can fast on nothing but water for 48 hours. I feel like I’m going to pass out right now, and this is after I’ve broken my fast.

Day 6 of extended fast.Gained 40lbs over the last 12 months but finally in a place to make better choices. Down 12lbs so far although I know from experience that it’s only ~3lbs of fat, but it’s nice that I can at least fit in clothes again.Rode to work this morning in an entirely average time/effort. First couple of days was a little tough in transition though no real symptoms. Day 4 felt weakest - not really tired but limited in what I wanted to do. Now I’m feeling a more useful level of energy and getting reminded of how nice it is to have smooth, consistent mental function rather than the donut rollercoaster I’d fallen in to.

⏳ 40 hours: started yesterday at 8pm, will break fast tomorrow at noon

❓ I fast 40 hours 1x/week as a symptom mitigation tool for Long COVID

📝 I’d love to hear if anyone has any advice on fasting when the goal is NOT weight loss (I am at a healthy weight: I could maybe lose 10lb but really shouldn’t lose more than that).

I am also curious if anyone else does this for Long COVID or other chronic illness, and if anyone has thoughts around that. E.g., does 40 hours seem like enough? I’ve had mixed success with the four trials I’ve done so far (today is my fifth), but when it works, it works so well that I think fasting will be a very important part of my treatment plan from now on.

on day 8 of current fast, been doing intermittent longer fasts and some mixed rolling short fasts since last october, down to 293 so far, feeling great! I already am past some of my “ skinny “ clothes from last time i was this size, so I’m really happy so far.

57 days on schedule and I’m now no longer considered overweight! I’ll make an official post at the 2 month update on Sunday, but very bittersweet considering that I got exactly 1 hour of sleep last night.

5’10.25”, 175.6 pounds.

I estimate that I’ll be at 10% around 159 pounds, I’m planning to continue my schedule until I hit 152-155 pounds to allow for some water weight regain when I go into maintenance fasting mode. I think in another month I’ll be really happy with my body and I’ll be done shedding weight in less than 2 months!

With all that being said, this is the leanest I’ve been in a decade and I’m 1-2 weeks from overtaking that for the leanest I’ve been in my life.

I love fasting, even if I was light headed a half dozen times yesterday, I need to eat a bit more before my upcoming 72s.

I want to make powerful comments, and I trust these sites’ (on reddit) security/maturity as well as people who seek out r/fasting (hopefully for advice prototypically. That being said. I am kinda tired rn. I have lots of water and snake juice in me. I wanted to share with you all something I learned to make snake juice go down easier and without sacrificing its simplicity: take a sip of that shit like it’s a fine whiskey. Especially if you’re the type to understand the phrase “moderation is key” well. Just my 2¢ for a day 🎃
